چکیده

Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu is a species originating from China that, during the 20th century, has spread rapidly throughout many countries, affecting mainly different of genus Castanea spp. In fact, it considered to be most important pest chestnut trees (Castanea sativa Miller), causing significant production losses. The adoption complementary measures chemical and biological controls would contribute control pest. this sense, use textile physical barriers could prevent rapid among centers. Therefore, objective study define characteristics that protects young plants have been produced in nurseries. For purpose, some commercial textiles selected based on morphometric characterization these accurately measured order compare their dimensions with those insects. Finally, tests carried out measure efficacy under laboratory conditions, controlling air velocity temperature. results reveal general, theoretical may not good predictor practical results. A fully effective screen found against its design can used as starting point for new, more optimized designs.

Differential Gene Expression in Chestnut Buds Following Infestation by Gall-Wasp (Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu, Hymenoptera: Cynipidae)

The chestnut gall-wasp Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu, an insect native of China, was found in 2002 for the first time in Europe, and specifically in North western Italy (Cuneo province). The cynipid lays eggs into dormant buds and, in the following year, causes the development of galls on leaves, sprouts and inflorescences, due to the feeding activity of larvae. The wasp has an effect both on...

Chestnut Species and Jasmonic Acid Treatment Influence Development and Community Interactions of Galls Produced by the Asian Chestnut Gall Wasp, Dryocosmus kuriphilus

Jasmonic acid (JA) is a plant-signaling hormone involved in defenses against insects and pathogens as well as the regulation of nutrient partitioning. Gall wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) induce the formation of galls on their host plants, which house immature wasps and provide them with nutrition and protection. The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of JA application on gall dev...

Gall structure affects ecological associations of Dryocosmus kuriphilus (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae).

Gall wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) induce structures (galls) on their host plants that house developing wasps and provide them with protection from natural enemies. The Asian chestnut gall wasp, Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu, is an invasive pest that is destructive to chestnut (Castanea spp.). An improved understanding of the interactions among D. kuriphilus, its host, and its natural enemie...

New Gall Wasp Species Attacking Chestnut Trees: Dryocosmus zhuili n. sp. (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) on Castanea henryi from Southeastern China

A new gall wasp species, Dryocosmus zhuili Liu et Zhu, is herein described from the southeastern Fujian province of China. The new species induces galls on trees of Henry's chestnut, Castanea henryi, which is also a native host for the notorious Oriental chestnut gall wasp (OCGW, Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu). D. zhuili overlaps with OCGW in emergence time and induces galls morphologically s...

Biological control of the chestnut gall wasp with \emph{T. sinensis}: a mathematical model

The Asian chestnut gall wasp Dryocosmus kuriphilus, native of China, has become a pest when it appeared in Japan, Korea, and the United States. In Europe it was first found in Italy, in 2002. In 1982 the host-specific parasitoid Torymus sinensis was introduced in Japan, in an attempt to achieve a biological control of the pest. After an apparent initial success, the two species seem to have loc...
